Learn Positive, Reward-Based Horse Training

Would you like to learn how to use clicker training with your horse but feel unsure about where to begin?

Perhaps you have seen other people using a clicker and would like to understand how it works. You may want to make everyday handling easier, improve communication with your horse or explore how reward-based training can support your groundwork, hacking or ridden work.

These one-to-one coaching sessions will help you understand the principles behind clicker training and show you how to use them clearly, safely and effectively with your own horse.

You do not need any previous clicker-training experience. We can start with the foundations and build from there at a pace that suits both you and your horse.

Practical coaching for you and your horse

Clicker training can be incorporated into many aspects of life with your horse, including:

  • Everyday handling and leading
  • Groundwork, lunging and in-hand exercises
  • Grooming, clipping and routine care
  • Standing quietly and calmly, for the farrier or Vet
  • Building confidence around new objects or environments, supporting fearful horses achieve their best
  • Gaining confidence hacking and undertaking activities outside the arena
  • Ridden work and training under saddle
  • Teaching new skills and exercises under the saddle and ground work

The focus is not simply on teaching your horse ’tricks’. It is about helping you understand how horses learn, communicate more clearly and use rewards thoughtfully within your everyday training.

Please note: this is a coaching service

These sessions are designed for owners who want to learn clicker training and develop their practical training skills. They do not include a clinical behavioural assessment, a written behavioural assessment report or liaison with your veterinary team.

Where a horse is displaying a significant change in behaviour, dangerous behaviour, aggression, severe fear, persistent ridden problems or behaviour that may be linked to pain or an underlying medical issue, a behavioural assessment may be more appropriate.
